Since I was a child growing up a stones throw from New York City (on Long Island) I was intrigued by all things creative.
My love and appreciation for music began very early in life and much of my initial experiences came from public school music programs, digging in my uncles crates of records and watching my neighbor (Wizard Albee) produce music for local acts (shout out to Ramadan). I have since developed my craft in music production, song writing and audio engineering.
My love for photography developed through my appreciation for family history and grew as I studied American and world history. After graduating from Howard University with a degree in Human Communications Studies / Pre-Law, I had the opportunity to travel to South Africa and guide Soweto youth through a documentary photography project. I was enthralled by sharing knowledge and time with the budding photographers; I truly value "giving back." Time went by... I started a family and was reminded of the power of pictures and why I fell in love with them in the first place. I then purchased a professional camera and have been shooting every day since!
Visual story telling has been a more recent endeavor in my life. DSLR style "still cameras" are now capable of producing high quality video capture on par with insanely expensive movie cameras; they have changed the way independent films are made. Using this technology, I've filmed and edited a handful of music videos, electronic press kits and live performances.
I admire legendary game changers like Public Enemy in music, Gordon Parks in photography and Spike Lee in film; and I am certain that artistic integrity and commercial success can co-exist. Raw talent, hard work and understanding the role of technology are mainstays of my creative philosophy. I'm continually developing my craft so that I can always bring the right amount of artistic and technical ability to the table when producing a project. My goal is to keep my work cutting edge, yet "classic and timeless."
